Marion Johnstone (nee Turner), beloved wife of Glen Johnstone of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the age of 75 years. Marion is survived by husband Glen; son Craig (Val); daughters Gayle (Mike) and Lynne (Dean); grandchildren Stephen, Nicole, Peter, Keith, Courtney and Spencer; brother Bill (Irene) Turner, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Gordon Turner and sister Joyce (Eric) Bisgrove. Marion grew up on the family farm near Munson and later Stettler. She graduated as an RN from U of A in 1960, married Glen in July of 1960 and moved to Regina where they began their family. They returned to Alberta in 1976 living in Calgary, where Marion studied Occupational Health and began her career as the first ever nurse for TransAlta Utilities. She worked at TransAlta for 16 years until her retirement in 1998 establishing a benchmark of hard work and high achievement. She remained active as a retiree with the TARA group as well as with McDougall United. Marion exemplified a spirit of giving and community involvement throughout her life, meeting her own significant health challenges head-on with an optimistic spirit that impressed all who knew her. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed. Memorial Services will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.) on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
