CHERNOW, Alfred Walter
February 3, 1936 – April 8, 2014

On Tuesday, April 8, 2014, Mr. Alfred Walter Chernow passed away at Rockyview General Hospital at the age of 78 years. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Jeanette Chernow (nee Tapper). Alfred was born in DeWinton, AB in February of 1936. He attended a small country school, and then moved to Calgary where he worked at the Hudson Bay Company for twenty-nine years. He believed his country should be defended, so Alfred joined the Canadian Militia, where he served for twenty-two years. He later served as a Commissionaire. Besides his loving wife, Alfred is survived by his son Darren and his grandsons, Brett and Jason. He was predeceased by his father Steve in 1983; his mother Annie in 1995; as well as his brothers, Nick in 1978 and Peter in 1990. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Foothills Special Care Hospital Unit 42, Rockyview General Hospital Emergency Care and Units 94 and 47. Special thanks to Dr. John Barrow, the nurses and doctors of Palliative Care, as well as a big thanks to Kathie Bzdel with Palliative Home Care. A Funeral Service will be held at LEYDEN'S CHAPEL OF REMEMBRANCE (corner of 17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.) on Wednesday, April 16, 2014
