Sheila Jones
JONES, Sheila Mae
February 15, 1945 - February 10, 2014
Surrounded by her family, Sheila passed away peacefully at Foothills Country Hospice after a short, but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Sheila was born in Lacombe, AB and spent her early years in Alix, AB. She moved to Calgary in 1956 where she has lived ever since. Sheila earned her Bachelor of Education from University of Alberta and enjoyed her years teaching until she became a full-time stay-at-home Mum. Sheila was a dedicated volunteer sharing her talents at the girl's schools, as a Brownie leader, Sunday school teacher and was a shining example to her daughters and granddaughters of how to live a meaningful life. She filled her days playing bridge and Mah Jong, attending two book clubs and stamping handmade cards. Sheila was the ultimate hostess and she inspired many with her thematic meals, thoughtful gifts, and welcoming heart. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Kathy House (Mike) and Jennifer Bridle (Stu); their dad, Earl Jones; her sister Shirley Evans (Burn); her mum Vera Clarke; her sister-in-law Wendy Wick (Bruce); nieces and nephews Michael Evans, Janet Evans, Brad Evans, Tyler Jones, Kyle Jones, Ryan Jones, Allison Wick, her extended family and "grandmas 4 girls", Caroline, Samantha, Gillian and Rebecca, her pride and joy. Sheila was predeceased by her Dad, Len Johnson in 1979. A Celebration of Sheila's Life will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.) on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
