OBITUARY OF DAWN ELSIE BEES

July 17, 1938 – Kidderminster, England December 19, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta Dawn Bees of Calgary, passed away on December 19, 2018 at the age of 80 years. Dawn Elsie Bees was born in Kidderminster, England July 17, 1938. After completing school and administrative assistant training she was employed by Kimberly- Clark and proud to work her way up to assistant for the head of the company. After joining the Mill Street Methodist church youth club in the 1950’s she met Keith, married September 1963 and completed her family with three daughters. Tiring of the long daily commute leaving little together time for family the decision was made to move to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. These were wonderful years for the family sharing quality time together enjoying the sun, sand and waters with a laid back Caribbean life style.

In 1980 Dawn and family moved to Calgary and joined McDougall United Church with Dawn welcomed to the choir and able to share her joy of music and singing. Dawn rejoined the work force in the mid 80’s enjoying her work as an administrative assistant in Children’s services at the Central Public Library. Following her retirement Dawn loved having more time to spend with her grandchildren and volunteered as the Reading Grandma at their school. She continued to enjoy church and choir and traveled extensively. To escape the cold Dawn embraced a snowbird lifestyle spending winters in Phoenix doing many activities including aquasize, pickle ball, dancing and so many potlucks. Her love for the beauty of nature and remaining active was a perfect match with like- minded friends who met weekly for hikes, with each excursion being an adventure filled with great companionship, laughter and need for GPS! Dawn was diagnosed with end stage cancer June 2016. Her positive attitude and indomitable spirit throughout the course of her illness was inspiring for all.

Dawn is survived by her loving family, daughters Caroline Bees, Vanessa (Darryl) Gabert, and Maria (Greg) Swan; grandchildren Evan, Megan, Kyle and Ian. She was predeceased by her husband Keith. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be So He put his arms around you and whispered “Come to me” Mom you will forever be in our hearts. Funeral Services will be held at McDougall United Church () on Friday, December 28, 2018
