Vera Clarke of Calgary, AB, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the age of 100 years.

Vera was raised on the family farm west of Didsbury. On graduation, she attended Garbutt's Business College in Calgary and afterward worked for the Royal Bank in Didsbury, Three Hills and Alix. She met Len Johnson in Alix. They were married in 1941 and the family lived there until 1956, when they moved to Calgary. Vera became reacquainted with Bruce Clarke after Len's death in 1979. Bruce and Vera were married in 1981 and were together for twenty years. Vera was an avid curler with the "Big Four" Ladies Curling Club. She served in numerous volunteer roles with the United Church, was active in the Chinook Charity Bazaar, delivered Meals on Wheels for over two decades, and was a Brownie leader in Alix and a Canadian Girls in Training leader in Calgary.

Vera will be lovingly remembered by daughter Shirley Evans (Burn); her five grandchildren, Mike Evans (Pam), Janet Evans and Bradley Evans (Lori), Kathy House (Mike) and Jennifer Bridle (Stu); twelve great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Myrtle Johnson; son-in-law Earl Jones; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada and the U.S.

Vera is also survived by Bruce's daughters, Cheryl Wilton-Clark (Mike) and Beverly Matheson (Bill); her five new grandchildren, Jim Wilton-Clark (Andrea), Randi Dukes, Bruce Matheson (Leigh), Doug Matheson (Jennifer), and Brent Matheson; and sixteen additional great-grandchildren.

Vera was predeceased by her husband of thirty-eight years, Len Johnson; too soon by daughter Sheila Jones; her brothers, Delbert and Glenn Levagood; her sister Marion Blades; and her infant sister, Jean Levagood and second husband Bruce Clarke.
