Shelley Petersen and Kostie Muirhead are Engaged

Shelley Petersen and Kostie Muirhead are pleased to announce their engagement. The proposal went off with a bang as Kostie went down on one knee at Global on August 24 just as the fireworks were starting with Shelley answering yes. 

Kostie and Shelley announced their engagement to the McDougall family at the service on August 27 as the church is a special place to the pair. Shelley has been a lifelong member and Kostie joined Collective Spirit (the service band) in 2019. 

The pair has been dating since 2019 but have been friends since 1999 when they met at a conference of the TUXIS Youth Parliament of Alberta. The organization has ties to both Shelley’s upbringing in the United Church and Kostie’s in the Presbyterian Church. Another neat connection to McDougall is that the second time they spent time together in person was when Shelley hosted the TUXIS conference at McDougall in November of 1999.

Families on both sides are excited by the news and look forward to the future. No date for the wedding has been set at this time.
