Refugee Update: 4 Children are Canadian Citizens

The McDougall Refugee Support group is proud to announce that the four children in our very first refugee family became Canadian citizens on Monday April 11. McDougall partnered with Deer Park, St. Andrews and Scarborough United churches to sponsor this Syrian family to come to Canada in February 2016. In all 15 volunteers actively supported this family for 18 months as they adjusted to life here. The children are now 14, 12, 10 and 8 and are progressing in school. The mother Nesreen took a Daycare Assistant program and is now working in daycare. The father Ayoub helps out as a driver for Skip the Dishes, in a team lead by Mustafa Al Astal, the father in another of our refugee families. We are very proud of this family and wish to thank you all for your support. Once again, we could not have done this without you.
