  • Reflections by Rev. Joanne Anquist: Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent.  Lent is 40 days, not including Sundays (it’s never Lent on Sundays!) for you to reflect on where you are at and what needs “tweaking” in your spiritual life. Continue reading on website.

  • Reflections by Rev. Joanne Anquist I saw this clip this week about a study called the Five Monkeys Experiment.  5 monkeys were placed in a cage with a ladder holding bananas at the top.  Initially, the monkeys would take turns going up the ladder for the bananas, but when one succeeded the other monkeys were sprayed with freezing water.  It didn’t matter which monkey made the attempt, the rest would suffer.  Continue reading on website.

  • History of New Sanctuary in McDougall United Church Calgary by Barry Clayton March 12, 2025: Fundraising was started soon after the formation of the McDougall Church Foundation in 2002 and the decision by the congregation to expand the building. Thru 2005 Brian Dowse, Bill Paynter and Charlie Marshall worked with the architects, Bathory & Associates on designs, and had many consultations with the congregation. Continue reading on website.

  • April 11 Now What Affirming Dinner and Panel: Meet the panel, On April 11th we are excited to host an Affirming Dinner and Panel. This gathering is an all ages open invitation to LGBTQIA+ individuals, their families, friends, and support networks to share a meal, connect, and reflect on the joys and challenges of allyship. Our panel will explore the importance of ongoing support and the impact of having strong allies in the next steps to fostering inclusive communities.   • Office Hour Changes Effective April 7, 2025: Effective Monday, April 7th, the office will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 - 4 am. This change has been made to better facilitate our shared ministry with Ogden and Red Deer Lake. Both sites now share office hours and can therefore share deadlines making it easier on everyone.
