Leadership Council Third Quadrimestre Report (September – December 2024) During the final part of 2024 your Leadership Council held two regularly scheduled meetings, as well as a Town Hall Meeting. We are very grateful to the volunteer members of our Leadership Council and are thankful for their dedication to ensuring McDougall continues to be a thriving and viable community to faith. Taste & Try December Recipes T&T met up on December 12th. Rev Danah showed us how to make several appetizers using crostini’s – or toast points. He has trying to show us that if you take a fat (tahini, cream cheese etc.) and a salt (pesto, capers, etc.) and a sugar (maple syrup, marmalade etc.), you have a nice combination of flavours. Thank you to Rudy Rumpel! Rudy has done a lot of work for the church over many years. On December 16 an unknown driver hit the garden shed at the church. Rudy spent many hours repairing the damage. See the before and after pictures. Rudy says he will do some more work later to make it look good again. A big thank you Rudy for all the work you do for the church!
Way To Go Karina Congregation member Karina did amazing in her December 18th Powerlifting Competition. Pictured is her 4th lift which won her a national record at 71.5 pounds. Congratulations Karina, well done!
Reflections by Rev. Joanne Anquist I was off between Christmas Eve and January 6th. There were 5 services between the two sites on Christmas Eve, I was at 3. Christmas Day was quiet with a turkey dinner ordered in to take to my parents house. We had a family fondue night, and watched Wicked on New Years Eve. I even did a 1000 piece puzzle! Lots of quiet time and sleeping in and watching movies. Just what I needed to recharge. Continue reading on website.
Property Third Quadrimestre Report (September – December 2024) Property Concerns for fall 2024 have been: The snow removal contractor we have had for several years discontinued providing service just before the first snowfall in November. Several other contractors were contacted with our new contractor for the winter season, Pascoe Landscaping, starting after the big snowfall in November. The ice currently in the parking lot resulting from the late start is a concern. Continue reading on website.
Congratulations - New Grandson Alert Congratulations Penny B on the birth of her grandson William B, born Thursday, January 9th. 7 lbs., 13 oz. All are doing well!
Reflections by Rev. Joanne Anquist - I think you all have known me long enough to know that my theology and my politics lean a bit left. (maybe more than a bit!). Ribbon Skirt/Shirt & Sharing Circle - Saturday, January 18th, On Saturday, January 18th Sonia D hosted a family Ribbon skirt/Sharing Circle at McDougall United Church. It was a beautiful afternoon where participants worked on a ribbon skirt, learned how to make Bannock and more. See pictures from the event on our website.
Bobcat visits Congregation Member, Check out this amazing photo taken by Marjorie M. Photo is of a young bobcat that was sitting on the patio looking into her family room Monday at noon.
Good Luck Karina, Join Karina on February 1st for the Icebreaker Powerlifting competition, this time at a different location, the One For All Fitness North gym at 2015 32 Ave NE. Karina will be competing in the deadlift around noon, and intends to break 200 pounds for a Canadian National record. She will also be Judging for the Strict Curl and the Military Press.
