Leadership Council Third Quadrimestre Report (September – December 2024)

During the final part of 2024 your Leadership Council held two regularly scheduled meetings, as well as a Town Hall Meeting.

We are very grateful to the volunteer members of our Leadership Council and are thankful for their dedication to ensuring McDougall continues to be a thriving and viable community to faith.

Highlights from our meetings include:

  • An update on the Shared Ministry was presented from the combined members of the Shared Ministry M&P committee. This report highlighted the desire to develop a new ongoing agreement between McDougall, Red Deer Lake and Ogden United Church’s early in 2025. Additional points included:

    • Appointing a new half time minister to the Shared Ministry Team later in 2025.

    • Increasing program and staff collaboration.

    • Working with UCC representatives and other churches to develop an innovate Shared Ministry model.

  • The Operational Working Group (OWG) lead Joanne Pritchard informed the council that she was resigning at the end of October from her role as lead. Thank you to Joanne for her dedication and expertise in leading the OWG over the past several years. As this position is currently vacant Rev. Joanne Anquist is temporarily the lead. We are currently searching for a congregational member to take on this vital role.

  • Our 2025 Stewardship campaign is now complete. Thank you to everyone who returned their pledge and volunteer forms during this campaign. Approximately 237 packages were picked up or mailed out with a return rate of 30%.  Thank you to Marilyn Bates and Sarah Reuangrith for taking the lead on this year’s campaign.

  • The Marketing and Fundraising Working Group under the leadership of Sarah Reuangrith hosted two successful events this fall. The two fundraisers held-Artisan market on October 5 and a Variety Show on November 1 along with silent auctions at both events raised nearly $6500.00.

  • We continue to monitor and evaluate our budget on an ongoing basis. Thanks to Norma May and Bruce Munro for their keen knowledge on this important aspect of our church life. It appears that we will not need to use any of the reserved funds this year thanks to the combined efforts of the generous donations from congregation members, staff members being thoughtful of their spending, grant funding, and fundraising. As the 2025 budget is being drafted, we will keep in mind the needs of McDougall and the importance of our role in the greater community to live out our vision of,  Forward thinking Christians who are creating hope through our Ministry.

  • We are looking for any interested members to join the Leadership Council as many of our current members have fulfilled their commitment. If you or anyone you know may be interested in becoming a member of the Leadership Council please contact the church office, Daren Patterson (daren.denise@gmail.com), or Joanne Pritchard (jmpritchard@shaw.ca). New members will be sworn in at our AGM on February 23, 2025.

  • Leadership Council minutes can be found posted in the Hospitality Hall, in a binder in the library, and on the McDougall website https://www.mcdunited.com/leadership-council .

Respectfully submitted by,

Daren Patterson
