Obituary Overview
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Patricia (Pat/Lil) Lillian Fair (nee Becker) on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024 at 10:24PM. She passed peacefully, quickly and with no pain.
Pat is predeceased by her parents Bill and Marion Becker, brother Wayne Becker, nephew Tony Becker, son-in-law Rick Morison and grandson Sidney Bridges.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Bob, daughter Juanita Morison, son Robert (Rean) and adopted daughter Sharlene. Pat also leaves behind 4 grandchildren Joseph Bridges, Becca Morison, Riley & Lily Fair as well as brothers Ed (Sandi), Dale (Grace) and Darcy (Lenore) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was born in Spinney Hill on July 31st, 1941 on the Pat Grandbois farm where she grew up and attended school at Spinney Hill and Asgard. Her Aunt Violet Niven was the teacher and after leaving Asgard she was enrolled at the Collegiate Institute for Grade 9 then back to Spinney Hill for correspondence for Grade 10, which she did not complete. Her education continued at the Allen Business College in Saskatoon where she trained as a secretary and upon graduation went to North Battleford and was employed by North American Lumber and a year later left to work with Stan Mighton who was the Crown Prosecutor for the Battleford area.
On August 27th, 1960 Pat married the love of her life Robert (Bob) Fair of Fielding, Saskatchewan. Once Bob completed his Registered Mechanics License in 1962, they made the move to Calgary in 1963 with their eldest daughter Juanita Jo-Ann born in 1962. In 1964 they welcomed a son, Robert George and 1969 their chosen daughter Sharlene Kristy.
Pat was a stay at home mom for 13 years and in February of 1976 returned to the workforce as a school aide at Queensland Downs Elementary and later was successful and worked as the Senior Secretary. After 22 years at Queensland she finished her career at Earl Grey Elementary and in June of 2001 retired after 25 years with the school board where she was sent off with a bang and was picked up in the school yard by HAWKS the local police service helicopter.
Pat and Bob’s love of camping started in 1966 first with a tent, then a homemade camper which was built by Bob and a family friend and they finished off their camping expeditions in a 26 foot fifth wheel which if health and age hadn’t creeped in, they would still be enjoying today! They also enjoyed dirt biking in the early days of camping and later took up golf which they weren’t the best at but thoroughly enjoyed. This was an extraordinary woman, always thinking of others before herself and her kind heart and demeanor was admired by all that knew her.
Rest in peace you beautiful sole and we’ll know where to find you when our time on this earth is through as we know you’ve “Gone Campin’!”
In lieu of flowers the family encourages a donation to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Pat’s honour.
We’d like to thank the staff of Unit 47 at Rockyview General Hospital which unfortunately was a second home in the last days of Pat’s life. They treated her with the utmost respect and dignity.
