Doreen Black

BLACK, Doreen Margaret (nee Wilson)
March 16, 1926 - February 19, 2012

Doreen Black of Calgary passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the age of 85 years from stomach cancer. Doreen was born and raised in Calgary and was proud of her war year's nursing training. She loved being in the country, hiking, travelling and her dogs. She had many hobbies over the years including millinery, ceramics, knitting and reading. The most special times for Doreen were family gatherings, whether for special occasions or just to share a meal. Doreen will be remembered by daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Gary McCorquodale; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Black and Joanne Pritchard, and Tony and Rekha Black; seven grandchildren, Brad, Brian and Davina Welch; Jenny and Kyle Mitchell, Richard Black; Andrew Richmond, Danica and Eleni Black. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen Mason of Vancouver as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Harvey (Bill) Black. A Celebration of Doreen's life will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.) today, February 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
