HATLELID, Lloyd Richard
October 16, 1925 - April 17, 2013
Lloyd, beloved husband of Beth and treasured father of Lynn, Brian and Shelley, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital at the age of 87 years. Lloyd was born in Lafleche, Saskatchewan. He and his identical twin brother, Wes, were the youngest of five. After graduating from high school, he joined the army and served in Canada and overseas from 1942 to 1945. From there he attended the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 1949 with a BSc in electrical engineering. It was at UofS that he met Beth and last year they celebrated sixty wonderful years of marriage. His thirty-six years with Imperial Oil took the family to the three Prairie provinces, Dawson Creek, BC and Jakarta, Indonesia. Lloyd was a member of McDougall United Church for forty years and served on various committees. Other volunteer activities included twenty years as a reader for CNIB; a term as president of CSEG; a term as president of the Esso Resources Annuitant Club; and committee involvement with APPEGA which earned him a life membership. Hobbies included golf at Canyon Meadows, curling, hiking, bridge, reading and extensive travel vacations. He is survived by Beth, Lynn Bradshaw, Brian and Shelley (Mark) Cowper- Smith, his brother Wes and sister-in-law Kathleen and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Lloyd's life will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.) on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.
