Dorothy Fowler, beloved wife of Ian Fowler, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the age of 96 years. At a young age, Dorothy moved from her birthplace of Toronto, to Edmonton. It was there that Dorothy met Ian. After waiting four years while Ian was involved in WWII, the two married and started a journey that lasted almost 68 years. Dorothy lived in Montreal, Edmonton, Buenos Aires, Dartmouth, Montevideo and Calgary and always made many wonderful friends. She enjoyed entertaining, whether it was asados in the backyard, or dinner parties in her home. She loved to dance and along with Ian, belonged to Les Amis in Edmonton. Dorothy was active with the church and throughout her life belonged to the UCW. She had many friends within Esso Annuitants, the bridge club, and various volunteer groups. She enjoyed the arts and had regular seats at the opera, philharmonic orchestra, and theatre. Dorothy also loved to travel and with Ian, visited much of the world. Besides her loving husband Ian, Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Carlann Thomas; son-in-law Gary Thomas; grandchildren Neil and Heather and nephew Greg (Suzi) Madsen. Dorothy was predeceased by her sister Aldene Madsen and her brother John Pemberton. A Memorial Service will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.), on Thursday, August 8, 2013
