Hal Hoops

HOOPS, Hal Joseph August 12, 1932 Toronto, Ontario August 9, 2018 Calgary, Alberta Hal Hoops, devoted and loving husband, father, grandpa, father-in- law, and friend passed away at Rockyview General Hospital in the early hours of Thursday, August 9, 2018 in the presence of his beloved wife Peggy and daughter Heather, after a remarkably strong six year battle with amyloidosis. Hal was just three days short of his 86th birthday. After a forty-one year career with Royal Bank with postings in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Quebec, and Alberta he enjoyed retirement to the fullest. He travelled the world with Peggy and played golf at Cottonwood Golf & Country Club, where he made some great friends. He was kind, humble, fiercely loyal, ever optimistic, and stunningly intelligent. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Peggy; his daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Bruce Brunette, Jenny Hoops and George Brindle, and Debbie and Steve Barry; and his grandchildren Laura, Sarah, and Matthew Brunette, and Oliver and William Brindle. Funeral Services will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, August 14, 2018
