Longest Night Service

Join us for a service that recognizes that - for many - the holidays can be a time when it is difficult to be merry; whether you are experiencing stress at work, the loss of a family member, or general unease about this particular holiday season. All are welcome to come for a quiet service of reflection and remembrance, as we hear a word of hope in the midst of our struggles, and look to the light in the darkness of the longest night of the year.

We will be lighting a candle on behalf of each the members we lost this year.

Grieving With Grace: Wednesday Session

A safe space for your hurting heart to treat itself gently, and find hope for the future

This group is intended for anyone who has experienced a significant death in their life.

Everyone grieves in different ways. All your thoughts and feelings are valid and have worth. In supporting one another, we can open ourselves up to a future that offers hope for healing.

If you are grieving a loss, and are looking for a safe and supportive community, there is space for you in the circle. You are never alone, and are always held by grace.

Join us weekly on Wednesdays at 10 am starting September 4th through until November 20. In order to ensure everyone is cared for in their particular situation, a brief, confidential intake survey of all participants is completed prior to the first meeting, in order to identify any specific needs or concerns that require attention. Space is limited. No new registrations will be added once the group has commenced.

Two different dates and times have been offered for this group (Tuesday at 6:30 pm or Wednesday at 10 am), please note that these dates are not interchangeable. Participants will be required to stay with the session they sign up for.

This takes place in the basement, a lift is available.

Please contact the office to register (403-252-1620) or office@mcdunited.com.

This Group will support your grieving by:

· introducing you to others who have had similar experiences, thoughts, and feelings.

· countering the sense of isolation and loneliness that many grieving people experience in our culture that avoids mourning.

· providing emotional, physical, and spiritual support in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.

· allowing you to explore your many thoughts and feelings about grief in a way that helps you be compassionate and kind to yourself.

· encouraging you to receive—and to give—mutual support, grace, and understanding to yourself and to others.

· offering opportunities to learn new ways of approaching problems.

· showing you that you can trust, bond, and nurture both old and new connections with people in a world that often feels like it doesn’t care.

· providing a supportive environment that can reawaken your sense of abundant, whole-hearted living, and give you hope for healing.

You can expect to:

Meet with the same group of people for the entire group duration.

Learn about key principles of the journey through grief.

Engage in open group discussion for mutual support.

Receive all resources and supplies required at no cost to you.

You are asked to:

Show up, prepared to join us in the circle.

Engage in the group discussion as much or as little as you feel comfortable.

Be open to reading selected educational resources—approximately 20-25 pages weekly—in preparation for group discussions.

Be willing to engage in prompted journalling during the week.

Engage in open group discussion for mutual support.

Receive all resources and supplies required at no cost to you.

You are asked to:

Taste & Try September

You can sign up for the waiting list, you will be contacted if a spot opens up.

Participants will meet in McDougall’s kitchen. This program is run by volunteers and Rev. Danah Cox.

Please note the participants should participate in the preparation, serving, eating and cleaning up of the session. We work and learn together. Volunteer jobs will be included in the registration, please help us out by signing up for something.

Healing Pathways Session

Healing Pathways will be meeting two possible ways: in person (in the chapel) or via Zoom. We are inviting anyone who would like to join us either way to let us know. You can contact the office to set up an appointment.

This meeting is open to anyone who could use a bit of healing in their life. It could be stress at work, the loss of a loved one, dealing with sickness or wanting some self care during this crazy time.

This healing ministry group uses gentleness and care when practicing its skills. Working with the body's energy system, members continue to enhance their skills and techniques to promote deep relaxation and healing of the mind, body and spirit. The principles are similar to Reiki.  It is an offshoot of Healing Touch, used by nurses on their patients.

We will start our session at about 9:30 am (Zoom connection will be open by 9:20 am to allow time to sort out problems with connecting.)  We will do a meditation that one of our team will lead.  This is followed by a prayer that people can choose to add to.  If you are coming in person, you can join us for this part if you want, or wait until your appointment time.  Online people have that option also.

Come and experience peace and feel God’s healing being channeled through our hands.

Learn more about Healing Pathways by visiting their webpage.

Grieving With Grace

A safe space for your hurting heart to treat itself gently, and find hope for the future

This group is intended for anyone who has experienced a significant death in their life.

Everyone grieves in different ways. All your thoughts and feelings are valid and have worth. In supporting one another, we can open ourselves up to a future that offers hope for healing.

If you are grieving a loss, and are looking for a safe and supportive community, there is space for you in the circle. You are never alone, and are always held by grace.

Join us weekly on Tuesdays at 6 pm starting April 2 through until June 18. In order to ensure everyone is cared for in their particular situation, a brief, confidential intake survey of all participants is completed prior to the first meeting, in order to identify any specific needs or concerns that require attention. Space is limited. No new registrations will be added once the group has commenced.

Please contact Rev. Bill Weaver at ogdenminister@shaw.ca to register.
