Grieving With Grace: Wednesday Session

  • McDougall United Church 8516 Athabasca Street Southeast Calgary, AB, T2H 1S1 Canada (map)

A safe space for your hurting heart to treat itself gently, and find hope for the future

This group is intended for anyone who has experienced a significant death in their life.

Everyone grieves in different ways. All your thoughts and feelings are valid and have worth. In supporting one another, we can open ourselves up to a future that offers hope for healing.

If you are grieving a loss, and are looking for a safe and supportive community, there is space for you in the circle. You are never alone, and are always held by grace.

Join us weekly on Wednesdays at 10 am starting September 4th through until November 20. In order to ensure everyone is cared for in their particular situation, a brief, confidential intake survey of all participants is completed prior to the first meeting, in order to identify any specific needs or concerns that require attention. Space is limited. No new registrations will be added once the group has commenced.

Two different dates and times have been offered for this group (Tuesday at 6:30 pm or Wednesday at 10 am), please note that these dates are not interchangeable. Participants will be required to stay with the session they sign up for.

This takes place in the basement, a lift is available.

Please contact the office to register (403-252-1620) or office@mcdunited.com.

This Group will support your grieving by:

· introducing you to others who have had similar experiences, thoughts, and feelings.

· countering the sense of isolation and loneliness that many grieving people experience in our culture that avoids mourning.

· providing emotional, physical, and spiritual support in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.

· allowing you to explore your many thoughts and feelings about grief in a way that helps you be compassionate and kind to yourself.

· encouraging you to receive—and to give—mutual support, grace, and understanding to yourself and to others.

· offering opportunities to learn new ways of approaching problems.

· showing you that you can trust, bond, and nurture both old and new connections with people in a world that often feels like it doesn’t care.

· providing a supportive environment that can reawaken your sense of abundant, whole-hearted living, and give you hope for healing.

You can expect to:

Receive all resources and supplies required at no cost to you.

You are asked to:
