Truth and Reconciliation Day – Blanket Exercise and Feast

This event is now full, please consider volunteering or join the wait list and we will try to find you a spot.

Join us on this day of reconciliation for a Blanket Exercise followed by a feast of stew and bannock. Everyone is welcome. Children are welcome to attend. The baby fold will be open.

The Blanket Exercise is a faith-based cultural awareness tool that presents information about the Residential School Experience in Canada and its impacts on Indigenous communities. It was developed by the interdenominational efforts of KAIROS Canada and is helpful in determining responses to Calls to Action for Church parties (59-61). This Regional Blanket Exercise is focused on Treaty 7 history and experiences. Pictures from a past event have been included below to give you an idea on how it looks.

Following the Blanket Exercise, a small feast will be served. Menu: Beef or vegetarian stew, bannock and dessert.

We are asking for some desserts to be brought in to help supplement the meal. If you can help out by bringing something to share, that would be much appreciated.

As this is Orange Shirt Day, we encourage you to wear orange to this event.

Registration closes on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 1 pm.

While there is no cost to attend this event, donations are appreciated.
