Youth Trek 2022 - With Pictures

Youth Trek is a retreat that this year took place October 28-30 at Waterton United Church for the Chinook Winds region. Kids age 12-17 and their leaders were invited. This was the first time it had been done, so as far as attendance goes there were 10 kids (4 of which came from McDougall!). We had a Bible Study that I led. There was a sensory experience where Chris Mah Poy and Emily Osgood guided us through experiencing God/Spirituality by our senses: for example, there was frankincense, myrrh, and pomegranate oil to smell, humus, pita bread, and other Mediterranean foods, and there was different music and soundscapes to listen to. We did some walking around Waterton, including walking around by the lake and up to the waterfall. Rev Tony Snow came out and led an exercise acknowledging the land and our troubled history with Indigenous Canadians. We took communion led by Rev Rachel Nadon. We went to Head-smashed-in Buffalo Jump. We also went bowling and enjoyed playing board games and eating with each other in community. Everyone who came is already talking about how excited they are to come back next year!
