Krishan:

“Hi, my name is Krishan Power and I’m the Choral Music Director here at McDougall United. Music is such a powerful, spiritual healing act and especially singing together I feel. And music is such a universal language, it’s one that relates to everyone. We like doing a variety of repertoire in this church to cater to everyone’s taste and to also evoke different feelings and meanings to go with the theme of the services.”

Valerie:

“Hello, I’m Valerie. Music has been very important to me as part of how I worship from when I was really young. So I was very happy when I found out that our recorded services still have music. But I was thrilled when Krishan discovered a way for Sonica to rehearse and record safely. I love singing with this group of wonderfully talented women. I think we add variety to the service and it’s very important for me to sing as I worship.”

Jennifer:

“My name’s Jennifer and I am currently a member of Sonica and also, occasionally singing for the Sunday Services. The music program, I think as so many people have communicated, is so vital to our church community. Just that sense of community, and making something together and being able to share that with people and the congregation. The past couple of months being back with Sonica and being able to have socially distanced rehearsals and to do recordings and to have anthems again for the services has just been so wonderful and it’s something that I continue to look forward to. Something that I’m looking forward to is our anthem for Remembrance Day. I hope people will be really moved by it and I know that everyone in Sonica really, really felt a connection to the piece that Krishan picked out and I hope everyone likes it when they hear it, and has a chance to reflect for Remembrance Day.”

Peggy:

“Hi, I’m Peggy. And I am so excited that I am able to be back working on the Music Ministry here at McDougall. And then this fall to be part of the Sonica group, I just feel that God is call us to reach out to people and it just feels like such a blessing every time I sing with them. I’m just so glad to be part of this ministry here at McDougall.”

Krishan:

“I’m looking forward to the upcoming year of music. Sonica will continue providing anthems every week when the band is not playing. And in our worship services we’re going to continue to bring as much high-quality music and in-person services as we can to manage the pandemic. It’s easy to feel lonely and we aim to be here for everyone musically as much as we can.”
