2021 - Q2. Pastoral Care Committee Second Quarterly Report April – June 2021
During this time many people have started getting vaccines and are hopeful that they will be able to see their families and special friends again, especially since the weather is warmer and we can meet outdoors with social distancing.
On Good Friday, April 2, 2021 Pastoral Care Coordinator Rachel Nadon conducted the 12 Stations of the Cross service.
Rachel continues to lead the Sunday morning Coffee Zoom time.
There have been 3 funeral services conducted by Rev. J Anquist and attended by only 10 family members and live streamed for extended family and church members, as per regulations.
The Pastoral Care committee conducted 2 more phone outs in March- April and June 2-15. We appreciate the dedication and work by Shirley Wilding in organizing the 44 volunteer phoners. The connections were important as people are getting Covid fatique and anxious to get things “ back to normal.”
On June 13 Rachel led her last Sunday church service at McDougall. After the church service there was a drive by good-bye for her. She has a full time Diaconal Minister position at Knox United Church in Drumheller starting in August. We wish her well completing her studies and in her new position.
As government restrictions are starting to lift, members can now book a seat in the sanctuary and attend a live service with masks and distancing.
There was a drive by 60th wedding anniversary for Gordon and Dorothy Burton.
Rev. Marilyn Evans was hired as Pastoral Care Coordinator until the end of December 31, 2021. She started on June 15 as Rev. J. Anquist is on holidays. Rev. Marilyn Evans has worked at McDougall before and is reconnecting with members and handling any Pastoral Care concerns. We are very pleased to have her on McDougall staff.
There are staff changes happening in the summer and less hours for Office staff. Please contact the Office if there are Pastoral Care concerns or changes.
Have a super summer!
Respectfully submitted,
Esther Petersen
