Open Table: Reconciliation Mural Wrap Up With Pictures - April 30, 2023

On April 30 McDougall hosted the first of two Reconciliation Mural painting days. Each participant was given a canvas to paint that will eventually become part of a larger Reconciliation Mural that will be hung in the West hallway of the church. We were extremely fortunate to be joined by Gloria Snow, Vancouver School of Theology Student, Elder Glenda Crawler, and Stoney Nakoda Linguistic Knowledge Keeper Trudy Wesley. They offered stories about their people's connection to nature and animals and were available for the painters to speak to or seek advice.

Pictures of nature were on a table for participants to be inspired by and artists were available to help provide advice and sketching help for those who wanted it. During painting breaks, painters were able to enjoy a light meal made up of a delicious array of sandwiches, chips and dessert.

The project is funded by the Chinook Winds Region with generous support from McDougall United.
