November 1st Turkey Dinner, Silent Auction & Variety Show - Wrap up with Pictures

On November 1st we welcomed congregation and community members to the church for a catered Turkey Dinner, Silent Auction and Variety Show. What a wonderful evening, thank you everyone for your support!

The doors opened at 5:30 pm and allowed guests to start the bidding on the silent auction items or take advantage of our concession. Then guests enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner that was prepared by EthniCity Catering. This is a great company that supports newcomers to Canada. Starting around 7:15 pm guests were invited to sing-a-long with a selection of kid’s songs. Then we were treated to a “Very Large Quartet” (featuring 21 performers) from Acapela Road singing popular melodies in Barbershop Harmony style. A selection of desserts was served at intermission, and then the evening closed off with a combo from Hippocratic Oath Big Band playing songs from the Big Band era. Both of these talented groups put on an amazing show that was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. A HUGE thank you needs to go out Acapela Road and Hippocatic Oath Big Band who performed for us pro bono. As you might know, these groups rent McDougall for weekly practices and wanted to support our fundraising efforts. We encourage you to show your appreciation by supporting these groups in upcoming concerts. You can see Acapela Road at their December 7th concert and Hippocratic Oath Big Band at their concerts on November 30, 2-4 at the Ironwood and December 15, 2-4 at the Irish Cultural Center (for tickets contact Amy Clayton at 403-999-9606).

This event was put on by the Marketing and Fundraising group. The November 1st planning team included: Marilyn Bates, June Clarke, Barrie Clayton, Bob Mutlow, Pat Shea and Sarah Reuangrith. Special thanks needs to go out to our helpers on the day including: Amber Cannon, Carol Clayton, Peggy Jorgensen, Norma May, Cailey Meuse and Kathy Meuse (sorry to anyone we might have missed).

Thanks to your support we were able to raise around $3,000 for the church through this event. You can learn more about our fundraising efforts here. We are always looking for people interested in helping with our next idea, if you are interested in joining our team please let Sarah know.

Below are some pictures from the event. .
