Meet Jennifer Heidebrecht - Office Administrator

How long have you been coming to McDougall? About 5 years

What are your hopes for McDougall? I hope that McDougall will increasingly be known as a place for many things in the community. A place for fellowship, spiritual growth, outreach, and events, where all are made to feel welcome and safe to be their authentic selves. 

What’s one thing you’d like to see happen this year at McDougall? I would like to see McDougall partner with other United churches in order to continue and expand our programming and build lasting relationships in the wider community.

Favourite/memorable Book? American Gods (2001), Neil Gaiman is a memorable book for me. I love how Gaiman tackles the themes of belief, mythology, and history that follow us all throughout time, while creating magic and wonder in the mundane.

Favourite/memorable Movie? Only Lovers Left Alive (2013) is one of my favourite films. It is a beautiful, dark, haunting and playful contemplation of love, humanity, and the passage of time packaged as a vampire movie that is anything like what the genre brings to mind. The soundtrack is absolutely stunning as well.

One thing you do for fun? I enjoy painting, mostly watercolour and acrylic and am inspired by the natural world, the changing seasons, melancholy, and duality.
