  • Stampede Breakfast: On July 9th we hosted our Stampede Breakfast. Guests were treated to pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages as well as mixed berries, whipped cream and syrup to top their pancakes. While they were enjoying their meal, people were treated to a performance by the McUke players. Check out a few pictures below and then go and see more here.

  • Karina H achieved a World Strict Curl record on August 25, 2023 in Medicine Hat, with the 100% Raw Powerlifting Federation. The World record was previously held by Jo Hendon from Virginia, USA set at 26.5 kg. Karina set the new World record at 28.0kg. To cheer her on were Xander (his birthday) and Jule. Assistant Coach Dylan (a 20 year old teammate who volunteered with only 48 hours notice) was spectacular and helped immensely. Dylan is also a World record holder with a World Full Power and Single Deadlift. Dylan was under supervision of Karina's full time Coach, whom she affectionately calls Sensei Saretsky, owner of One For All Fitness, and also a many times World record holder himself.

Karina weighed in at 50.3 kg (110.67 pounds). She curled just over half her body weight. She was given the meet award for Masters female best curl, and it was announced that according to the Wilks score (adjusts for gender and weight) Karina had curled more than some of the male athletes.

Karina went on to set a National record for Military Press (27.5kg), a National for Bench Press (45kg) and a National for Deadlift (80kg). Karina won best Masters female for these categories.

Karina is grateful to McDougall SIngers and McDougall church for their support and to all who prayed, supported, and cheered her on. Karina says, 'I stand on the shoulders of giants, and I am in awe of and witness to the Life Force.' Way to go Karina!!!!!

  • David S passed along this great update: My granddaughter, Emma, just graduated from Mount Royal University this spring with a BA in Psychology.  She has been acting as a guide for the past three years for River Watch’s float trips down the Bow River.  This year she was promoted and is in charge of all River Watch’s Calgary activities.  She was recently featured in the Calgary Herald, you can view the article here. Emma’s connection to nature comes naturally as her father George is now in charge of Calgary’s downtown parks and her mother (our daughter) Nancy Mackay, after earning a BSc. in ecology and authoring Calgary’s 30 year water plan, is currently Director of Water Services for the City of Calgary.
