It is with extreme sadness and everlasting love that the family of Arthur Hironaka shares his passing. Art passed peacefully, surrounded by his family in the early morning of Saturday, April 8, 2023.

Art lived a very full life, and selflessly gave of himself to his family and numerous charitable and community endeavours. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Calgary Stampede, an Honorary Life Director of Stars Air Ambulance, a founding Director of the Stars Foundation, a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions International Foundation, recipient of a Lions International Presidents award, and a Charter Member of McDougall United Church.

Art was born in Raymond, AB to Yoichi and Tsuki Hironaka, the youngest of nine children. He is predeceased by sisters, Fusae and Florence (Yosh); and brothers, Akira (Yasuko), Tucker (Kinko and Sachiko), Jim (Aya), Robert (Suzy), and Marshall. He is survived by sister Misae (Akira – deceased), and sister-in-law Sally.

In 1958, Art married Patricia Konno, and they recently celebrated their 65th anniversary with their children and grandchildren. Besides his loving wife Patricia, Art is survived by his daughter Cynthia (Rob); sons, Brent (Tammy), and Neil (Alice); along with his grandchildren, Allison, Amelia, and Steven. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

If friends so desire, charitable contributions may be made directly to STARS Air Ambulance, www.stars.ca, or McDougall United Church Foundation would be appreciated. No koden please.

Family visitation will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McDougall United Church, 8516 Athabasca St. SE, Calgary AB T2H 1S1 on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Art’s Celebration of Life streamed live on the day of the service or can view it later on at the McDougall United Church YouTube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYPpjVy2iaw).
