OBITUARY OF BRIAN EVASIUK
March 5, 1995 – Calgary, Alberta
August 13, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden loss of Brian Evasiuk on the morning of August 13, 2020. Brian was 25 years old.
Brian was born on a perfect crisp and cold winters day on March 5, 1995. His parents, Doug and Linda, had waited so long for their baby boy and often said it was the best day of their lives. Their family become complete when their daughter Erika, Brian’s sister, was bon 17 months later.
Brian grandparents, Olga Evasiuk, Grandma E., Oma and Opa Hildegard and Herbert Tamm moved to Calgary to be close to their grandchildren. Grandma E. was a great travel companion and often joined the family on trips to Europe, California and Mexico. Oma and Opa were part of the fabric of Brian’s’ childhood and Brian will be laid to rest alongside them. Brian’s many cousins were more like his siblings…the Calgary Clan…the BC Beauties and the Whitecourt Big and Littles.
Growing up in Southeast Calgary including spending great and happy times with friends from Ecole Sam Livingston and West Island Collage (WIC). When the family moved to Houston in 2011 Brian entered 11th Grade at Seven Lakes High School. Brian loved his time in Texas. Brian returned to Canada for University and attended Quest in Squamish, BC where he completed his Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in2019.
His love of words made him a voracious reader, debater and private poet. Music was a refuse for Brian and playing and composing on his guitar a creative outlet. Brain was a natural athlete playing league sports and representing his school and varsity teams in basketball, volleyball, ping-pong and lacrosse. Lacrosse was his main love and he played for the Axemen in Calgary and Seven Lakes High Scholl in Katy, Texas. Brian loved the water and was most happy when he could snorkel or go diving. More recently Brian became passionate about cycling and completed the annual MS 150 ride from Houston to Austin in 2018, then the Camino de Santiago in Spain with his father Doug, his Uncle Rick and David and friends.
Brian was lucky to travel the world with his school, his family and also solo. His travels included Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa where he felt comfortable exploring and hoped to visit again.
A talented coder, Brian interned and worked for Clearblade in Austin and NOV in Houston. In 2019 he started to attend the University of Denver to update his coding skills. But mental health and addition slowly changed the young man with so much promise.
Brian is survived by his father Doug Evasiuk of Fulshear Texas, his mother Linda Tamm and his sister Erika Evasiuk of Calgary, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
All of Brian’s family and friends are forever transformed by his life and his passing.
IN memory of Brian, donations can be made to The Mustard Seed. Ogden.
