About the Opera: All’s well that ends well in this light-hearted and comedic opera, where you’ll laugh along with the hapless Nemorino’s antics as he tries to win over the heart of the beautiful Adina. How is the theatrical story amplified by singing and orchestral music? We’ll discover more about the composers of the Bel Canto era (literally translated as “beautiful singing”) as well as the kind of instruction and preparation—vocal and dramatic—that it takes to portray a convincing character on the operatic stage!

Opera Buddies: “Macbeth” & Verdi’s Operas

Cost: Free

Limited to 30 participants, learn more and register here.

Even if you don’t know his name, you’ll have heard the opera tunes of Giuseppe Verdi before! Verdi’s operas combine powerful soloists, a huge chorus, elaborate sets and costumes, and thrilling orchestral music, and his operas are some of the best loved around the world. In Verdi’s re-telling of Shakespeare’s classic play, a Scottish warrior is driven to murder by a witches’ prophecy, his wife’s deadly influence, and his own ambition to become king. Although the story might be familiar from your high school English literature class, we can safely say everything is more dramatic as an opera!

This session takes place over 4 weeks.

April 6: at McDougall for an introduction to the Opera

April 13: at McDougall

April 20: at the Jubilee Auditorium 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

April 27: at McDougall for a wrap up
