(Red Deer Lake)Lent Art Walk-Through: A Journey Through Art and Scripture
Lent Art Walk-Through: A Journey Through Art and Scripture
This Lent season, we invite you to take part in a spiritually enriching experience with our Lent Art Walk-Through. This unique event will focus on scripture readings used by McDougall United and Red Deer Lake United churches worship services throughout Lent, and then go into themes Holy Week, and Good Friday. The walk-through hopes to invite contemplation and creative expression, culminating in a community exhibition that showcases the artwork created by folks from our community, who were inspired by these themes.
The exhibit will be set up in the Chapel at Red Deer Lake for Palm Sunday (April 13) and will be available for viewing from Monday to Thursday, 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM.
Afterward, a more limited version of the exhibit will be available to view at McDougall United before and after the Good Friday Service, on Holy Saturday (12:00 PM - 3:00 PM), and on Easter Sunday.
And while we encourage all to come experience the finished product, we are also seeking artists from all backgrounds to participate by creating pieces for the event. So, whether you are an experienced artist or simply someone looking to explore a new form of expression, this event offers a space to connect with others, reflect on scripture, and share your artistic voice. You will be provided with scripture readings, inspiration resources, and the opportunity to work either in community studio sessions at McDougall United or from the comfort of your home. If you're interested in contributing a piece of art for the show, please sign up here.
Attend, contribute, or both, we truly welcome your participation!

About the Opera: All’s well that ends well in this light-hearted and comedic opera, where you’ll laugh along with the hapless Nemorino’s antics as he tries to win over the heart of the beautiful Adina. How is the theatrical story amplified by singing and orchestral music? We’ll discover more about the composers of the Bel Canto era (literally translated as “beautiful singing”) as well as the kind of instruction and preparation—vocal and dramatic—that it takes to portray a convincing character on the operatic stage!

About the Opera: Set in an aristocratic household on the wedding day of two quick-witted servants, this opera is a whirlwind of witty banter, awkward entrances, and mistaken identities—all set to some of the most genius operatic music ever written.
