Watch Party: "Nimona" - Dinner and a movie

  • McDougall United Church 8516 Athabasca Street Southeast Calgary, AB, T2H 1S1 Canada (map)

This is part of SoCal’s affirming series as well as Reel Theology at McDougall United.

Join us Wednesday, June 19th for dinner and a movie, featuring the film “Nimona”.

According to a Screenrant review, “Nimona” follows the adventures of Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed), a knight disgraced by a tragic incident, and Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz), a mysterious shape-shifting teenager who wants to be his sidekick. The tragic incident that turned Ballister from a shining hero to a treacherous villain has threatened a thousand years of law and order. Now, it is up to this unlikely duo to uncover the truth and save the day. Along with its unique animation and rollicking action sequences, Nimona digs into themes of individuality, identity, and acceptance that aim to speak directly and warmly to the queer community. At a time when LGBTQ rights and spaces continue to come under attack from bigoted legislation, Nimona cements itself not just as a great fantasy film, but as an important one as well.

We will start with dinner before the film. Donations will be accepted to offset the cost of the evening.

Please let us know that you are coming by reserving your ticket.
