Operations Working Group - Second Quarter Report
The Operations Working Group has been working timelessly since the COVID19 pandemic changed our world in March. We responded quickly to move McDougall into compliance with the AHS safety guidelines and research the supports available to us through the United Church of Canada and our federal government.
Tremendous leadership has been provided by our Treasurer, Karen Chow, who has participated in hours of UCC webinars, researched federal government programs and gathered the information required to complete program applications. As a result, McDougall and its employees are in much better shape at this point in the year than we would have been otherwise.
Operations formed a working group to review our programs and staffing during the pandemic. Thank you to Marjorie MacRae for her human resources leadership in this work. Some staff-related changes were made this quarter, particularly to our caretaking hours while the building is officially closed. Government subsidies have allowed us to maintain most other staff positions through to the end of August. Operations recommended that the Leadership Council review our program and staffing priorities in light of our budget projections for the remainder of the 2020 budget year. McDougall staff were asked to submit proposals for initiatives in their area of ministry for September and, based on those proposals, Operations developed McDougall Priories Survey to gather input from Council members to facilitate the budget review discussion at the July Leadership Council meeting.
