Opera Buddies - Meetings at McDougall and Other Exciting Announcements

We are very excited to announce that our partnership with Calgary Opera and Foothills Academy will continue in 2023 with a few exciting changes. First off, after lots of feedback that you wanted the meetings to take place at McDougall, I am happy to announce that meetings will happen at McDougall United, except for the two Operas which are at the Jubilee. We have also adjusted the time so that it starts earlier and will wrap up before the choirs rehearse on Thursday nights (4:30 - 5:45 pm). This will allow any of our choir members to participate with minimal impact to the rehearsal schedule. The last exciting piece of news is that we have opened up the ages of those who can participate. In the past it was open to youth and seniors, now anyone over 12 is welcome to participate. We encourage you to bring your friends and learn about Opera together!

Here is a quick summary of the program:

• Open to anyone ages 12+

• Meetings will be Thursday nights from 4:30 - 5:45 pm in McDougall’s Hospitality Hall, except for the dress rehearsals at the Jubilee.

• Free to attend (yes that includes the Opera as well)

• There are 2 different Operas that you can choose to do one or both of them, they are “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” and “Macbeth”

• “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” runs Jan. 26–Feb. 9, 2022 - Total of 2 sessions plus the Opera

• “Macbeth” & Verdi’s Operas (April 6-April 27, 2022) - Total of 3 sessions plus the Opera

• A fun way to learn about this art form.
