Indigenous Ecological Restoration Gardens Tour at Mount Royal University - Pictures from the event

On Wednesday, July 24th some McDougall congregation members braved the heat and smoke to do an Indigenous Ecological Restoration Gardens Tour at Mount Royal University. Khatija Westbrook, PhD, PT, CAT (C) is an Associate Professor and guided the tour.  You can find out more about Khatija here.  You can also read more about how Mount Royal University is committed to Indigenization here.  Participants were taken on a journey to numerous areas on campus where there has been natural and purposeful reclamation of native plants to these lands. The tour highlighted work done and plans for the future. Following the tour, participants had a chance to get out of the heat and to have a snack.

The tour was provided at no cost. It was organized by the McDougall United Church Indigenous Bursary group. You can learn more about this group and the bursary available to indigenous students by reading this blog post.

Mount Royal University has some great resources for Indigenous students. Here are two of them; Indigenous University Bridging Program and Iniskim Centre.

Below are some pictures from the event.
